Famous games at Dean Smith Center

Game night

Tradition. Students stand in a standing-room-only section behind one basket, created before the 2000–01 season.

Seating & views at Dean Smith Center

The Dean Dome holds 21,750 in a huge two-level bowl, and the farthest seat sits about 675 feet from the court, so upper rows feel distant. Lower-level seats go mostly to Rams Club donors. Students fill much of the upper level plus a standing section behind one basket, added before 2000-01, which the visitors attack in the first half. Twenty boxes near the top of the lower level were converted to seats because of poor views.

Parking & tailgating at Dean Smith Center

Lots around the Smith Center on South Campus are reserved for Rams Club permit holders on game days. Public parking has been sold in nearby decks such as Cardinal Deck and Jackson Deck, and UNC Transportation and Parking posts a plan for each game on move.unc.edu. Tar Heel Express shuttles run from the Friday Center park-and-ride lot. Rideshare pickup after games has been on Blythe Drive, and limos and rideshares cannot stop in front of the building.
